John and Mike are smiling as they prepare to apply the final
square foot of basecoat.
Ducts are insulated with a urethane foam.
Exterior walls are 2"x6" and insulated with R19.
Common walls between apartments constructed to be sound proof.
First the wall was built with a 2"x6" plate with staggered offset
2"x4" studs. R11 acoustic insulation was applied to both sides of the
wall. On one side RC channel was attached to the studs to isolate sheet rock from
studs. Finally, on one side of the wall is two layers of 5/8" drywall and on
the other side is one layer of 1/2" drywall.
Foyer walls are insulated with R11 acoustic insulation.
